Switch Access allows you to control your Android device using external switches, keyboard keys, or camera gestures, and you can customize actions, scanning methods, and menu options to suit your needs.

Setting Up Switch Access

Open Settings: Go to your device's Settings app.
Navigate to Accessibility: Tap Accessibility > Switch Access.
Enable Switch Access: Toggle it on and grant any required permissions, such as camera access for facial gestures if using Camera Switches .
Choose Switch Type: You can use:
- External switches via USB or Bluetooth
- External keyboard keys as switches
- Built-in device buttons (like volume keys)
- Camera gestures for facial expressions

Assigning Switch Actions

In Switch Access Settings, select Assign switches for scanning.
Choose the action you want to assign (e.g., Select, Next, Previous, Scroll forward/backward, Touch & hold).
Press the switch or key to assign it. You can assign multiple switches to the same action, which is useful if using a full keyboard as a single switch .
For auto-scan, you can add a second switch to reverse the scanning direction .

Scanning Methods

Linear scanning: Moves through items one at a time.
Row-column scanning: Highlights one row at a time, then items within the row.
Point scanning: Uses moving lines to select a specific location.
Group selection: Assigns colors to groups of items; select the color corresponding to the item you want .

Customizing Gestures and Menu

Camera Switches: Assign gestures like Open Mouth, Smile, Raise Eyebrow, or Look Left/Right to actions .
Global Menu Customization: Toggle Enable Menu Customization to change what appears in the Switch Access menu. This allows you to add or remove actions for easier navigation .
Touch Gestures: Record gestures like swipes, pinches, or double taps and assign them to a switch for complex actions .

Auto-Scan Settings

Enable Auto Scan to automatically move the highlight through items.
Adjust scan time, delay on first item, and number of scans to match your speed and preference . Switch Access is highly flexible, allowing users with motor impairments to navigate, select, scroll, and perform complex actions efficiently without touching the screen.
