Connect the incoming phase and neutral to the main MCB, then route through RCCB to branch MCBs, ensuring proper neutral and earth connections for safety.

Step-by-Step Wiring Procedure

1. Prepare Materials and Tools Gather the required MCBs (single-pole or double-pole), RCCB, wires, wiring ties, and tools. Ensure wire sizes match the load: typically 2.5mm² for lighting and sockets, 4mm² for high-power appliances like air conditioners . 2. Connect the Main Supply

  • Feed the phase (live) and neutral wires from the utility or energy meter into the main isolator or main MCB .
  • The main MCB acts as the primary switch and protects the entire system from overloads. 3. Install the RCCB
  • Connect the output of the main MCB to the input of the RCCB.
  • The RCCB protects against leakage currents and electric shocks. 4. Connect Branch MCBs
  • For single-pole MCBs, connect the phase wire from the RCCB output to each MCB input.
  • For double-pole MCBs, connect both phase and neutral wires from the RCCB output to the MCB input .
  • The neutral wires from the RCCB output are connected to the neutral bus bar, and the earth wire is connected to the earth bus bar. 5. Distribute to Loads
  • Connect the phase terminal of each load to the output of its respective MCB.
  • Connect the neutral and earth wires of each load to the neutral and earth bus bars . 6. Wire Management and Safety
  • Arrange MCBs from left to right, with reserved positions on the right if needed .
  • Use plastic ties to bind wires neatly, keeping spacing uniform and wires straight.
  • Clearly label phase, neutral, and earth connections, and mark voltage levels if multiple supplies are present . 7. Final Safety Check
  • Verify all connections are tight and correct.
  • Ensure proper earthing to the earth pit or rod.
  • Conduct a safety inspection to check for short circuits, overloads, or loose connections before switching on the main supply . Following these steps ensures a safe and organized distribution box wiring setup, protecting both the electrical system and users from hazards.
