Secure the fiber optic distribution box using expansion bolts, ensuring it is firmly mounted, level, and properly aligned.

Preparation Before Installation

  1. Choose the Installation Location: Select a dry, ventilated, and anti-corrosion wall. For indoor installations, the bottom of the box should typically be 1.2–2.5 meters above the ground, and for outdoor installations, 2.8–3.2 meters. Avoid unstable walls, decorative facades, parapets, or temporary structures, and ensure no water pipes or high-voltage cables are above the mounting area .

  2. Check Equipment and Tools: Verify that the optical fiber interface board and protective sleeves are complete. Prepare expansion bolts, a level, protective ground cables, optical fiber jumpers, and cable hoses .

Mounting the Box

  1. Mark and Drill Holes: Align the box on the wall and mark the screw or bolt positions using a level to ensure horizontal alignment . Drill pilot holes suitable for the expansion bolts.

  2. Insert Anchors and Secure: Insert expansion anchors into the drilled holes. Place the box against the wall and fasten it with the expansion bolts. Ensure the box is firmly fixed, horizontal, and vertical, with perpendicularity deviation not exceeding 3mm . Avoid over-tightening if the box is plastic to prevent cracking .

Cable Introduction and Management

  1. Feed the Fiber Cable: Insert the optical cable through the entry port, using a protective jacket to prevent damage. Wrap tape around the fixed position to secure the cable and prevent loosening .

  2. Organize Inside the Box: Assign cables to ports or modules, maintaining the minimum bend radius recommended by the manufacturer to avoid signal loss. Connect the fiber to the interface board using jumpers .

  3. Label and Record: Mark the fiber cores, starting direction, and other relevant information on the interface board and inside the box. Keep a paper record in the box door slot for future reference .

Final Checks

  • Ensure the box cover is closed and locked to protect internal components.
  • Verify that the box is level, stable, and that cables are not under tension or bent sharply.
  • If applicable, bond metallic components for grounding, especially with armored cables .

Following these steps ensures a secure, stable, and service-friendly installation of a fiber optic distribution box, minimizing the risk of damage and maintaining optimal signal performance.
