Material Composition

Polyurethane cable trays are made from a composite of polyurethane resin and reinforcing fibers, which provides high mechanical strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and long-term durability. The monolithic structure ensures there are no seams, joints, or weld points, preventing moisture ingress and reducing risks of internal corrosion, mold, or short circuits .

Manufacturing Process

  1. Material Preparation: Polyurethane resin is mixed with reinforcing fibers and additives to enhance mechanical properties, fire resistance, and electrical insulation.
  2. Molding: The mixture is poured into molds shaped according to the tray dimensions. This can involve compression molding or injection molding, depending on the tray size and design .
  3. Curing: The molded trays undergo a controlled curing process, where heat and pressure solidify the composite, ensuring uniform density and structural integrity.
  4. Demolding and Finishing: Once cured, trays are removed from molds. Edges and surfaces are smoothed, and any necessary holes or slots for cable entry and mounting are added.
  5. Quality Control: Trays are tested for bending strength, load capacity, electrical insulation, and resistance to moisture and chemicals. Typical bending strength is ≥120 MPa, supporting cable loads of 10–20 kg/m even in high humidity environments .
  6. Customization and Coating: Optional surface treatments or coatings may be applied to enhance UV resistance or fire retardancy, depending on the application.
